Based on a joint energy workshop, a comprehensive conceptual study was developed for Kettelhack to improve energy efficiency and reduce natural gas consumption. The identified savings potentials were grouped into three measures packages. One selected package was subsequently planned in detail and successfully implemented.

  • Optimization of tank management, including new PLC, visualization, and revised supply control
  • Integration of existing control systems into a modern central control system
  • Access to plant control from the local network and via the internet
  • Expansion of wastewater heat recovery through an additional plate heat exchanger and frequency-controlled pumps
  • Conversion of the caustic recovery system to reduce cooling water consumption and increase hot water temperature
  • Installation of backwashing for both the new and existing wastewater heat exchangers
  • Installation of additional measurement and control technology to increase data transparency and display stored data in diagrams
