To optimally utilise the existing refrigeration plant and reduce operating costs at Gascogne, available capacities of the central chilled water supply were used on behalf of RheinEnergie AG to implement hall cooling systems in selected production and storage areas. The background to this project was rising summer temperatures, which could negatively affect sensitive products, as well as the replacement of decentralised split air-conditioning units with a central, energy-efficient solution. The result is a uniform, product-protective indoor climate without the need for decentralised cooling generation.

Key Project Measures

  • Connection of the finished goods warehouse, printing department, and film processing area to the central chilled water distribution system
  • Installation of high-capacity recirculating air cooling units in the respective areas
  • Replacement of existing split air-conditioning systems in the film processing area
  • Installation of chilled water and condensate piping, including insulation
  • Integration into the existing measurement, control, and automation system
