HOSOKAWA Micron Powders GmbH has been one of the leading providers of size reduction technology and industrial services in the field of mechanical process engineering for more than 50 years. At the Cologne location, HOSOKAWA processes solid materials into powders on behalf of its customers.

As part of a production expansion, the compressed air supply was completely redesigned and implemented. This included the centralization of compressed air generation and the installation of a new DN 250 compressed air ring main. The entire system was designed with a particular focus on low specific energy consumption and high control accuracy.

Key Project Measures

  • Two oil-free, speed-controlled screw compressors (500 kW each)
  • Expansion with a 500 kW turbo compressor with 400 V drive
  • Integration of compressor waste heat into the heating system (heat recovery capacity: 350 kW)
  • New cooling water system for heat dissipation from compressors and refrigeration dryers
  • Installation of a new DN 250 compressed air ring main for optimal air distribution
  • Fast and reliable control concept ensuring constant system pressure
  • Central control and visualization system for improved efficiency
